Scrap, scrap, scrapity scrap!

This I forgot to add yesterday ... on my elsie-esque blog post... this is a part of the maya road binder which is full of '70 things I love...' inspired by Elsie's 12 x 12 LO (you can see it on 2peas if you search elsiecake's gallery) ... I really enjoyed doing this and wrapped loads of ribbon round a metal keyring ring...

These I found the other day - a whole HUGE biscuit tin of old, old, old buttons that were my Grans. I am happy! Some are grubby, still have cotton attached but will wash up well and some are pretty cute. Just ideal to scrap!

I am in love with scrapping. It seriously does rule my life. I am willing my kids to grow out of clothes so as I can hack them up and get embellies from them. And tomorrow i'm off into town to Pandora's... Sandra has the new Elsie range in!!! Woooooo hooo ( check out http://pandorasandra.typepad.com/ ) Kevy is out tomorrow with some old uni mates and so I will NEED something to do while i'm sat in with my two little ones... (do I really need anymore of an excuse to scrap?)

Also can I just say that big brother is soooo naff this year. I know I always say thats it... it just gets worse, i'm not going to watch it but I seriously mean it this time. And watched the last of the series desperate housewives last night... whooah, didn't see Edie hanging herself coming. And even though i'm not keen on her. I did feel sad. Waiting for the repercussion now on Carlos (and hoping he gets back with Gabrielle)... Have to wait a while though. Still, mustn't be sad I still have Ugly Betty to watch. Somehow I think everyone can empathise with her life one way or another... and Amanda is so damn hillarious. And the scottish woman - the one who was in extras. She pretty damn cool too. And Daniel Meade is HOT with a capital H... and the guy who fancies Betty from accounts or where ever he works is pretty cute in a quirky... like rip my specs off and i'm sonme kinda superman/spiderman superhero hunk...

I'm waffling on. Must go to sleep!

Our day out...

Here is my nephew George... I don't know why he did that with his arms, he thought it was posing!

This is my eldest niece Abbeygail, she is pretty smart and starting school in September.

Here's Emily and George. They really are good buddies. They just have similar personalities. You know they have always been friends, they share and play lovely which I find pretty good for saying Emily is going though he 'I WWWWWWOOOOOOOOONNNT it' stage.

Here's my youngest niece Jessica. She is a cheeky monkey- full of life and spirit. She was so cute today... 'Paula, I think baby Ben really loves me... Does he love me?'

And lastly a weird but pretty sweet piccie of Abbeygail...

That was our day today. Travelling in the car, then the kids running riot at my sisters. Emily was distraught when it rained and she had to come inside from their garden and all the ride-ons. She was so sad! Jill, my sister was talking to her about her lunch and Emily just piped up '...yeah I just love playing in the garden...'

Blog hunting!

I am in love with blogs... don't you just love reading them, I could for hours and hours and hours... it goes to show you what I do all day - lol... So I found this:

ten random things to journal:
  1. 10 things I learned in school which weren't on the curriculum.

  2. 10 of my very worst ideas.

  3. 10 of my absolute worst pet peeves.

  4. 10 people who are alive today that I would love to meet.

  5. 10 biggest fears.

  6. 10 things I would do if I won the lottery.

  7. 10 countries I would love to visit.

  8. 10 favourite quotes.

  9. 10 favourite scents or smells.

  10. 10 things I expect in a good friend.

I think these little few pointers are pretty inspiring and I already have a few ideas kicking around in my head... Especially number 4... I can tell you the majority would be scrapping/art realated!

A few more piccies...More of my little doodly pages...

I saw this little embellie in claires accessories- well it wasn't an embellie, it was a badge! But I thought it was pretty cool and another Elsie-esque piece to celebrate everyone being able to get their hands on the ki memories love, elsie range! WOOOOOOOO HOOOO! I don't know about you but I am so excited. I know that Sara will have a heaps of it in the kit for us from SoML but I just had to order some from Kitty at first class crafts... ( www.firstclasscrafts.co.uk )She has all those cool fabric papers! Am eagerly waiting for them now!h

More doodles and buttons...!

Piccies....

These are two of the LO's I have been busy working on today and last night... I am in love with orange, as you can see. I am also in total love with the hambly screen print rub ons... those ones with the little birds, they are devine.

And this skull was from the SoML first kit which has had me hooked for a while now but I just haven't found anywhere to use it - until now. And this LO I may use as one of my pencil lines entries. Just because it's my style. You know heaps of doodling and funky embellies. (and orange)

I have had this for a while...

I made this a while ago. It is just a white 12 x 12 sheet of cheap cardstock (no texture) and my doodling/drawing with a black fineliner. It is a whole 12 x 12 sheet about my boy, Ben. It took a while to do, mainly becuase of all the dots but I think it looks pretty hip - except I haven't used it as yet. I keep meaning to but just haven't got round to it.

I cannot decide if I should leave it all black and white and carry on by using a black and white piccie of my gorgeous little man or add little glitter on certain parts of the doodling or add glossy accents to certain parts? Or use a quiet 'plain' coloured piccie but with one main colour - say blue??????? Just because I worked so hard creating it, I don't wanna mess it up. A lot ogf love went into that sheet of 12 x 12!
We had our nephew staying last night and we had a yummy chinese! It was delicious. I always have the curry and they put cucumber in it which seems and may sound weird but it really is sooooo tasty and delicious. I called my sister and told her that we will be driving up to see her tomorrow - It is around a two and half hour drive each way so a pretty good trek but we haven't seen her since new years... with one thing or another someone has been ill or we've been busy or they were on holiday... Expect lots of piccies of her kids!!! I am so pumped to see them, Abbeygail has been asking if 'baby-Ben' can walk now because she hasn't seen him for so long. I just know they are all going to be so big and so grown up...

Tuesday 29 May 2007

This is all I have crammed in my tote. Jane carried it for me at our last Billericay crop and told me how heavy it was. Yes, it is heavy. I'm sure (or I wish) that the stuff is breeding in there. I have so much stuff stuffed in. But I like it that way. I'm disorganised but organised... if you get me. It seems as if everything is everywhere and it's disorganised but the truth is, I DO know where most things are.
But it is getting too heavy. It needs a little clear out.

A little more...

I apologise for the poor pics. Things like photographing LO's are not my forte. And Sara offered to show me how to scan and stich but I just haven't got around to it yet. Here are a few more of my little creations...

This one was done by using the ModScraps April kit (autumn leaves french twist) and it came with a great plastic guide which I used to create those little glitter circles around the journalling. I was going to put it into the 'onelittleword' comp that I know Amber is involved in (GO,GO SoML gals!) but I totally forgot all about it until Sunday evening when it was too late.

How cool is it using fabric? I am on a mad fabric hunt just lately. I finished Emily's curtains a while back and hung them and had a heaps of cord left. They were super long and so I of course SAVED it all - hey, a scrapper never chucks stuff out! And then I found the purple sheer stuff in a scraps bag which I knew would make a cool LO... The chipboard was the embossed MME bliss stuff but because I used the heidi swapp paint, it's pretty thick and covered the pattern- so I glittered it with stickles and spread it all over! The little gem crown was a heidi swapp one with a kit (not sure which one) and the ribbon and rikrak was some stuff I had laying around. The little metal plate was in the sale AGES ago at Artbase in an american crafts pack... and the pink heart holding on the acetate journalling ( I love using acetate!) was put on with my crop-o-dile (FAB tool!!!) and then snapped on. The heart buttons were doodlebug... I think thats it. It's all very pink and girlie and suits Emily down to a 'T'.

Now this one was taken back in Jan but I haven't used any of the snow pics, bar a couple. She just loves that hat. She just loves any hat! (and her wellies) no matter the weather you can find her dancing round with a wooly hat on and her wellies. She has toddler-style... I painted the thicker letters with my heidi swapp FAVE paint, even the name of it is cool - Betty!

My style and my journalling...

I have really been doing some soul searching with my scrapbooking just lately. It has become more than a photo album- it's a window into my life. I have been trying hard to make my journalling - from my heart, you know all those things you think about saying to someone at 2am when you lie awake. Those thoughtful words of love and the wisdom you always seem to have at that un-godly hour. I want those thoughts and feelings to be brought out in my scrapping. I've been asking my self some hard questions to try and bring out my feelings and make my journalling super-from the heart- tear jerking stuff...

When you look at your scrapbook layouts, what do you see? Do you just see pictures? Or do you see a story – a life told through words and the magic of scrapbooking? I'm hoping that my journaling will allow me to tell the story behind all of my pictures I have taken. For me, my goal is that when my journaling is complete it tells the story about the photograph in my LO. Sometimes though I feel that only a few words and/or a title sum up the whole page. Sometimes though it is a lengthy description of your thoughts and feelings relating to that piccie that just make the page, that bring together everything you remember about that time, all your feelings and special moments written down forever.

I am finding too that it's a kind of therapy... you know I lost my mum back in 2002 and I was just 21. At the time I thought I was grown up and worldly wise; I know MUCH differently now! But I feel ready to scrap the piccies and write down all my feelings and thoughts about her and how much she meant to me. And you know what i'm loving making those extra special piccies a wonderful part of my album.

I've also been busy creating LO's. Some of which aren't my usual thing, i've found that hard but enjoyable all the same. I've also finished a few scraplifts, which I *heart* doing. I just have found certain people who I aspire to and their work gets me all fired to create and create and create some more...

This is scraplifted from Zuleika Greenham, her style is just to die for... very Elsie-esque!

These two are my own creations though! The cosmo cricket one being not my realy style but I really enjoyed the acrylic paint and letter stamped title... very messy but VERY enjoyable!

My flash is a little high, sorry that the pics don't actually look in their true colours, but you get the idea!

Life is crazy...

Life is just crazy at the moment. You know I have so much on, I always have so much on! And added to the mix is the pencil lines design team call... check it out on www.pencillines.com It will be a fabulous for whoever wins!

Since I didn't blog yesterday, i'll tell you what I did: I scrapped! I loved it. I sat down and worked for three whole hours and managed to complete a whole LO. It felt good! and i'm pretty proud of it except one little piece which I may change. Then after my two littlies had gone to bed, I scrapped some more! Oh, I am in love with scrapping!

Today we headed off into town and got soaked. The rain has been so bad here, really heavy and heaps of it. But I did have a little spend.... just a little one seens as I have ordered a huge amount of stuff from Jessica at www.storykits.com and needless to say that I cannot wait for it to arrive. But back to my little spend...
I brought :

From Pandoras papercrafts in Basildon, aren't they just so scrummy!? I already had the creative imaginations patterned paper to match the chipboard shapes so now i'm pretty excited to start on that LO. But I have one mid-made atm so gonna try and resist and finish that first!

I am also on tenderhooks as it is this Friday that Sara puts the SoML kits out and she has an add on that is limited in avaliablity (!) fingers crossed that I manage to get them both... I am waiting and hoping that it will all be ok for me but with the time differences and things it makes it awkward to order it at the moment it goes on sale- that is unless you are nocturnal, which alas I am not.

So I have heaps on my horizon... and i'm madly trying to create the full A4 sheet of stamps to be made up along with LO's for the BOB scrapbooking and the pencil lines DT call... along with all the other things in my life! I have however come to the conclusion that unless I get my finger out the CK scrapbooking awards will be a no, no this year- boo! I am trying... Less blogging and more scrapping I think!

Saturday 26 May 2007

Another peek...

Another peek into my SoML circle journal... I will be posting this on to YOU! (Michelle) on Tuesday...

Haven't managed to do much today... tried to think of a page for the pencil lines design team call but have had no inspiration as yet... I have heaps going on in my life atm that i'm pretty crazy and run ragged! But did try and stamp onto coudoroy (sorry, sp!) and it didn't work! I did draw over the faint lines with pen though and that did work but may need more pratice as it looked pretty veiny and the pen kinda ran alittle.
More tomorrow... must sleep, it's late.

There is this one thread...

On UKScrappers there is a thread entitled 'making a living from scrapping...' I am watching it with interest. The consensus is that if you actually did it for a living it wouldn't be your hobby any more and wouldn't be interesting or fun any longer. I kinda agree... but then I am an ALL or NOTHING kinda gal. My life is obssessional. I guess I only just realised that at the ripe old age of 27. I think I would LOVE it. Being surrounded by supplies and inspirational people day in and day out would be heavenly to me, or at least while this obssession runs its course...

Personally for me scrapping is SPECIAL, you know the feeling... you've finished a LO of your children or whatever YOU choose. It's close to your heart... It has all your emotion and feeling in that one 12 x 12 page or whatever you've used. You journal what you want to remember about that time/photograph... you choose all the little details in the LO. You spend time re-arranging bits and pieces and put a lot of love in that little piece of art. How could you put a price on your memories...? Like previous posts have said about their LO's not being chosen for comps etc... and the 'how could they miss my BEAUTIFUL baby' etc... How can you suggest a value to this sort of thing?I would like to however say you can put a price on how inspiring you are. Ppl mentioned Shimelle and Elsie and yes, they are priceless to me! I love the doodly whimsical no rules scrapping they have. I love they way that the little things in their LO's matter the most. I also admire Emily and Celine who have that 'use everything' style of scrapping... where even a sheet of kitchen roll could end up an important part of thier art. THIS is what I would pay for if you were to make money out of it... Your LO will mean less to someone than to you, but your inspiration doesn't! I think that is the key to how you make money from scrapping...

Karen Russel added some great thoughts on scrapping on one of her blog posts... which I have hijacked - It's good.
It's a hobby for some. It's art for some. It's an outlet for some. It's a scrappin-till-2 a.m.-love-affair for some. It's defining for some.
And for some, it is as much a part of who they are as the color of their eyes.
But part of the beauty of scrapbooking lies in the fact that it is different things to different people.
It's sitting down in front of a blank sheet of cardstock, deciding what it is in your life that you value enough to spend the next couple of hours documenting.
It's about priorities.
And earlier in the day, you might have thought that your priority was that new hole you found in the couch cushion (none of the kids know how it got there, of course), the fact that you're getting your son to baseball practice late, for the third time this week because you can't find his baseball mitt, or that never-ending "to do" list that is haunting you...
But when you sit down to scrapbook, those priorities start shuffling all around until the real priorities make their way to the forefront.
That's my favorite thing about scrapbooking (those moments when my priorities become loudly and abundantly clear).
Ultimately, we might all be scrapbooking for very different reasons...
Maybe it's for your family. Maybe it's for yourself. Maybe it's for a deadline. Maybe it's because you never want to forget that conversation your had with your son yesterday. Maybe it's for a dream.
Different things to different people.
But at the core of it all, I think, are more similarities in purpose than differences.

Don'tcha just think that this is so true. so to sum it all up. Yes, you could make a living from scrapping IF you were so inspiring and so thoughtful like Elsie, Karen, Amber, Celine, Michelle, Sara, Gina, Nina and all the cool other people I know...

My family...

This is my daughter, glued to the tv when Curious George is on... as you can tell it's pointless trying to get her attention. She loves that monkey!

Ben, however much prefers my company and is very willing to smile, the posing is somewhat 'wobbly' but at least he looks at me!

And this is the first photo i've had of Kevy for a L-O-N-G time. He simply is not compliant with having his pics snapped!

Productive Mornings...

Today I have had a super busy morning. I have cleaned... I have hoovered... I have washed! (lots - three loads) and I have been super busy!

No idea why I have this sudden urge to complete chores but it's good I have.

Now my two little monkeys are glued to meg and mog on the tv. It will soon be sleep time and I have some super-dooper cool scrapping organised (lets hope we're all happy and sleep well!). I have a huge idea that will have fabby journalling to complete. I also wanna do a doodly LO and some stiching too...

On the upside its the school prom tonight, so Kevy will be out and I can have free range on the remote and the lounge floor... I know i'll be happy and my stash will be spread all over!!! Yeah! I love creating.

And I may call my sister too. I love that girl.

I may add piccies if I have time amongst the scrapping and monkey-sitting!

And if you've read this all YOU are tagged!
Here is one little casual necklace I have made up with some of my super bright freshwater pearls... had fun making this one and looks all summery and cute.

And here is two really chunky bracelets that I think i'm gonna cluster with heaps and heaps of pearls. It's a shame they are only silver plate but may buy some sterling silver ones if and when I know they look ok!

This is the cute little cigar box and papers from the SoML May kit and extra kit. Don't you think it makes a cute little album and box??? I haven't had time to put anything in the album yet but may give it to someone as a gift - I haven't decided!

Can I just say how much I *heart* Karen Russell and her blog! Have a look here at how wonderful and inspirational she is as a scrapbooker and a mother... http://karenrussell.typepad.com/my_lifejust_not_on_the_ro/business/index.html

I will add more pearl-y pics once my two little monkeys have hit the hay!
Here are the piccies of my SoML Circle Journal! I finished my last few bits last night and am so pleased with it. I am excited with the acetate overlay I made and cannot wait to use this technique on other projects too! Watch this space for acetate craziness!

Here is the yummy little book I made at Donna's crop on Sunday for fathers day...

I did manage to make a card too- but won't post it as I know that Kevy reads this sometimes and he is likely to have a big peek at it... whereas he has already been given the book! Thank you Donna for such a lovely and FULL crop! Wow, we were so busy this week and it was fab!

Monday 21 May 2007

I just have realised I have an addictive personality...

Never before have I realised this but... Now I have...

My name is Paula and I am an addict. I have had my stash and craft addiction for years now (along with a coke addiction too) coca cola that is) and it has to stop! I think every crafter/scrapper would say the same. I buy far too much than I could ever use and half of it is sat lying around and will never be used, not EVER. I have far too much stuff. I am an addict to buying new stash.

So by realising and facing that I AM addicted, do you think i'll stop??? (I don't!)

I have to crack on with Daphne's necklace though this week and finish my CJ for the SoML girls! I started it yesterday at crop and managed to get alittle done last night while I watched my favie prog David Gest - he is just so unreal! He is weird but SOOOOO funny. I wonder if he is really so eccentric in RL?

Piccies will be added later!

Saturday 19 May 2007

OOOOOH! Stop drooling!

Here are the beautiful freshwater pearls I ordered! Wow, aren't the colours so vibrant and yummy?!!!

And here is a little sterling silver beauty that I made this afternoon while my two bubbas were sleeping! You can't actually see very well but there are little cream pearls on there too just nestling between each larger cherry coloured pearl. Going to wear it with pride tomorrow at crop... Ooh yummy!

More importantly though I oughta get on with the necklace for Daphne!

Friday 18 May 2007

I have a commission!

I am so pleased. Today, out of the blue an old work colleague calls up and asks if I still sell my jewellery. I used to make pieces and sell them back when I started nannying as I found the school mums and people I met could 1. Afford them and 2.Wanted the sort of designs I made... I stopped once I stopped working in London/Surrey and had no real customers any more, nor the drive to make any new pieces either.

Well, Daphne has called and asked if I could make her a bright piece to wear to a friends daughters wedding in June, YES JUNE! How could I say no? So now i've just ordered a fairly big batch of freshwater pearls and sterling silver findings to see what I can come up with. I have a fair bit to play with because she is wearing beige and hasn't brought any bag or shoes yet... She said she is willing to match them up with the neckalce she has asked me to make. So I am totally PUMPED!

Luckily my old supplier is still selling her pearls and so I know that i've got a good deal and she said she will get them out today and I should get them tomorrow! I am sure that the findings will not arrive tomorrow though so I won't actually be able to start but in any case tomorrow and Sunday are packed full of stuff I need to do! I am so busy!

I will post a piccie tomorrow of those beautiful pearls if and when they arrive! (I have some gorgeous colours coming!)

Thursday 17 May 2007

Aren't you impressed at how good i'm getting with this technology thing!?

How true is this?

Three Sleeps... and lots of packing!

It's three sleeps til the Billericay crop and I still have so much to do. My head is full of ideas and i'm spending the days doing chores with a pen and paper to jot everything down, it's driving me mad that I have so many deadlines at the mo and I simply can't work any faster.

I have half completed the stamp sheet I want to get made up. I am trying to draw out a set of alphas too to see if they would work as I just love funky writing and think if they were on a stamp it would be so easy and quicker than free hand each time. Not that I would stop the freehand stuff just it would give my hand a break... I have also been trying out some robots and skulls which seem to be all the rage atm and I must admit I love skulls... they can be made so funky. I have failed at birds, they just look weird.

I put together two more LO's yesterday evening, well I just have a few little gems to add on a flower on one LO but all in all a fairly creative night! Tonight will be much the same, I hope! I have heaps and heaps more LO's to create and heaps of ideas too. I figure that this afternoon I will be staging some piccies so I can fulfill my LO ideas.

And along with all the usual day to day stuff and creating, I have my packing to do for crop on Sunday! And boy, it is going to take so so so long to pack it all up- my desk is like a pile of paper, buttons, tape and ribbon. It is crazy. BUT does help my creativity.

My Daughter Is A Sponge...

Isn't it amazing what our kids 'soak-up'??? Today, her Daddy came home from work,Ben was busy rolling around our lounge floor and Kev and I were trying to talk in the kitchen...

Emily: Mooooommmm! Look at me!

I look at her. She has a wooly hat on and her wellies. No pants, so a naked butt was shaking round our dining room...

Emily: *singing* Josie Jump is my name, kissing and cuddling's my game, some times I get the feeling I wanna kiss your lips, kiss - kiss - kiss. Josie has a fat stinky butt...

ME: hummmmmm

Kevy : looking rather embarassed.

Moral: kids will soak-up anything they hear or are told. And men NEVER get passed that boy-potty humour.

Smiling happy people...

Woah! Can I just say what fabulous buddies I have. Thank you so much ladies for offering to take in the kit and then passing it on to me. You are sooooooooooo wonderful.

It's four sleeps til the Billericay Crop. Time goes so quickly just lately. I cannot believe it is only a month since the last one, can you? This time too Donna has a great raffle going on and she has a little store coming too. Hey- how cool is this going to be. Plus we are making stuff for fathers day which is pretty handy as I haven't even thought about it in the slightest. I have so much going on at the moment. Still he is having such a cool time at the mo, since Ben was put into his own room and I now have room to scrap at my desk upstairs- he has free reign on the t.v and of course has been on his Wii the past two nights. He is enjoying my creative urge just as much as I am.

No piccies as yet as i'm busy with all the LO's for these comps! I am on a mission to get everyone I know to enter too!

I am totally bummed out...

I want this kit and a few of their back ones too. Great I think! Not so great, I find out... They do not post to the UK!!! Ahhhhh. Now i'm heartbroken. I just want the stuff soooooo bad. You do not know how bad I want them. I NEEEEEEEEEEDDD it- as my DD would say. Not a chance unless some kind USA buddy offers to take it at their addy and then pass on to me...
